Is that a wrinkle?

These days when I look into the mirror I am noticing more and more wrinkles that seem to be appearing out of nowhere.  Most of my wrinkles are on my forehead, which are probably a result of my WTF looks on my face at least a couple of times a day.  In all seriousness as I am about to turn 40 I decided it is probably time to really start focusing on my skin.  I have considered getting Botox (come on who hasn’t) to zap those wrinkles right off my forehead but I decided first to try a create and stick a skin regimen and see if I can reduce my fine lines and wrinkles on my own.

Truth be told I don’t do much to my skin now.  I use Neutrogena face wipes (which I am obsessed with) to take off my makeup, I wash my face in the shower and then put some lotion on prior to my makeup.  This is my daily morning routine.  I have no night-time routine.   I don’t even wash my face at night, I sleep in my makeup.  Before everyone freaks out and starts commenting on how bad that is let me explain.  I have always had pretty clear skin and never had a problem with acne.  Ever since I was a teenager whenever I would wash my face at night I would start to break out, so I just never got into the habit of doing it.  In fact, one of the first times I stayed over at my fiancé’s house his daughter came to wake me up and started yelling “Tara sleeps with her makeup on!”  at the top of her lungs.  I know not washing my face at night is out of the norm but it has always worked for me and saved me from lots of breakouts.

I have looked into getting Botox, as I mentioned above and I still haven’t ruled it out.  Actually if money wasn’t an issue (I am planning a wedding after all) I would probably set an appointment up today.  I know several people who have done it and swear buy it.  I am definitely intrigued by it and probably will take the plunge here one day.   It does make me a little nervous to have all needles poked in my face, but the thought of no lines on my forehead or crow’s feet around my eyes sounds amazing enough that I could put up with a little pain.  Oh the things we go through to look good.   Have any of you used Botox, if so recommends on where to go and who to see?

Deciding on what skin care line has been difficult for me.  There are so many choices and great reviews on all of them it was hard to narrow it down to just one.   I have looked into several different skin care lines like Rodan + Fields, Beauty Counter, Aveda, Clinique, and just regular over the counter drug store products. (All which are great brands) Most of them come with so many products and creams I can’t remember when to use what.  I need things to be simple.  I end up buying all these “extra” products and night creams and only end up using the face wash and lotion which equals a waste of a lot of money.   I did just recently stumble upon a skin care line by Jan Marini.  I did some research on her products and everyone seemed to rave about them and the before and after photos on her website were pretty amazing.  Her products have been featured on the Today show and in Allure, Marie Claire and Bazaar magazines.  Her products were also voted New Beauty’s Best of the Best Awards.  After reading all these great things I decided to bite the bullet and purchase her skin care line.   I ended up purchasing her Skin Care Management system for dry to very dry skin as well as the Age Intervention eye cream.  I have been using these products for just about a month now and I really like them.  Each item is listed out in steps, this is good for people like me that need that need an organized face wash plan to know when to apply what product.  My skin feels softer, and my makeup goes on smooth over it.  Even my bonus daughter touched my face the other day and said “You have the softest skin”.  I consider that a win coming from her! The Skin Care line recommends washing your face morning and night but so far I have just been doing mornings and I have been fine.  I did breakout with one forehead zit (yes, I still get zits at almost 40) but I believe that was just my skin adapting to the new products.  I can’t wait to see what my skin looks like if I continue with these products and use them faithfully,  sometimes I tend to fall off the wagonJ  Wish me luck!  If you are interested in seeing a step by step video of the products, I would be happy to provide one.  I would love to hear what skin care products are your favorites and why.  Below are some pictures of the products I am using and the link to Jan Marini is up above.  Cheers to turning 40 and embracing the wrinkles that come a long with it!
