Deciding who you will ask to stand up beside you on your special day can be a tough choice but for me it was an easy one. I knew even before Brody proposed that if we ever did get married I would want his two daughters to stand up with me. Not just so, they could wear a fancy dress but also so, they would realize this wedding was about them too, that I was not only making a commit to love and cherish their Dad I was also making it to them. When we say our vows I wanted them to be standing beside us knowing these vows were also directed towards them and at that moment we were all becoming a family.
Even though the girls knew the day we got engaged that they were going to be my bridesmaids I still wanted to ask them “officially” and in a fun way. I decided to look through Pinterest for some fun and creative ways to ask the girls. I decided to make them a basket of goodies. First I had a card made with their name on it formally asking them to be my bridesmaids. Attached to the card was a bracelet that showed 4 circles interlocked. One representing each of them, myself and Brody. I got that for them to wear to show the unity of our family. I had fun silk bath robes made for them to wear the day of the wedding. Each robe has their name in glitter on the back. I also included hair ties, and a black and gold mug with their initials on it. My favorite thing I put in there was a pair of gold heart earrings for them to wear on the day of the wedding. They are attached to a card that says “Love you Mean it”. This is our slogan and something we always say to each so it has a special meaning. Putting these boxes together was so much fun and I was so excited to see their reactions when they opened them.
Becoming a “Bonus” Mom is one of the greatest gifts life has blessed me with. Even though I didn’t give birth to these little girls I love them like they are my own and I feel so lucky to get be a part of their life and love them.
Below are some of the highlights, enjoy. Cheers!
