One year ago, today I met my fiancé on Match.com. My subscription was about to expire and I really had no luck with online dating but that night I thought I would give it one more try. I always looked at the newly added people first and as I scrolled down there he was. I was instantly attracted to him from his profile picture and even more so after reading his profile. We had several things in common and he just seemed like a genuine person. I took the leap of faith and “winked” at him. On Match, a “wink” is how you show someone you are interested in them. Within a few minutes, I had a message from him. He told me he liked what he read in my profile and wanted to get to know me more. He asked if we could set a time the next night to talk on the phone. Normally, my rule was to talk a little more through Match messaging before giving out my number but with him, I just had this feeling. I gave him my number and the rest is history. We met in person a few days later and became exclusive shortly after that. This past November I was lucky enough to become his fiancé and in just a few short weeks, we will be living together and in six months I will become his wife.
Isn’t it funny how life works, how God has a plan for everyone. Your life can change overnight when you least expect it. When I got on Match that night I never thought this would be the night I would be meeting my future husband. Today I am thankful for online dating, for having the courage to wink at him, for him responding to me and for God bringing us together. March 9th will always be a day I remember and one I will forever be grateful for. Cheers!
